Mindfulness in Minutes: How Female Founders Can Beat Shiny Object Syndrome and Grow
Today’s Mindfulness in Minutes is about one sneaky growth killer for female founders: The Business Bedazzlement Trap — a.k.a. shiny object syndrome.
It’s when we think new websites, swag, logos, or podcast launches will fix our business model, pipeline, or cash flow problems. Spoiler alert: they won’t.

The Glittery Lie of Business Bedazzlement
Tell me if you’ve ever said:
"We need all new company headshots!"
"If we just add a yoga-with-weights class…"
"Maybe we should start a podcast?"
"Let’s rebrand!"
"Let’s launch 25 new products!"
BABES. NO. TO. ALL. OF. THE. ABOVE.
The truth is, none of these distractions are going to solve your revenue problem, your client retention, or your operational inefficiencies. They're just draining your focus, time, and money.
Mindful entrepreneurship means knowing the difference between meaningful growth moves and glitter bombs.
When I first opened my yoga studio, the co-founder and I spent weeks researching commercial coffee makers. WEEKS. Did we need a $500 coffee maker? Nope. Did we need a client sales funnel, an automated membership system, or a basic marketing strategy? Yep. (We ended up with a $49 coffee maker, used maybe 5 times. #Priorities.)
Lesson learned: Lattes < Business Foundations.
What Female Founders Really Need: Clarity, Consistency, Courage (Not Chaos)
Too many female founders are exhausted because they’re chasing shiny marketing hacks instead of sticking to their strengths.
Mindful entrepreneurship is showing up every day with:
Clarity about what you offer
Consistency in how you show up
Courage to stick with it when it’s boring
No hacks. Just intentional, consistent moves toward real business growth.
Case Study in Consistent Growth: Sweet Loren’s
Let’s talk cookie dough 🍪 — and business strategy.

Loren Castle, founder of Sweet Loren’s, spent two years perfecting allergy-friendly cookie dough before scaling. She could’ve expanded into cakes, gluten-free bars, or snacks... but she didn’t.
She doubled down on what was working: cookie dough. Fast forward: multi-million dollar brand, products in 15,000+ stores, projected to hit $120 million in sales by 2025 (CNBC).
Lesson: Consistent focus > shiny expansion.
Reality Inventory: Set Your Focus
Next time you’re tempted by another "life-changing" software, “instant client magnet” course, or 15-product launch plan...Before you launch the next big thing, do this Reality Inventory:

ASK: "Is this actually solving a problem I have — or am I bedazzling out of boredom or fear?"
Step 1: List 3 things clients, customers, or community members consistently ask you for.
Step 2: Reflect on the past 30 days. What were your biggest wins?
Step 3: Ask: What do I really want to do more of in my business?
Step 4: Connect the dots. Are your wants aligned with what’s already working?
If they are: THAT’S your focus. Stick with it.
Final Thoughts: Get Back to Basics
Business growth doesn’t come from glitter. It comes from alignment.
So next time you're tempted by the next "business must-have," pause. Revisit your original offer, audience, and purpose. That’s where the real magic is.
Remember:
Show up with clarity, consistency, and courage — not chaos.
You are courageous, capable, and strong, and your foundation already reflects just that.
