We’ve all been there—scrolling through social media and seeing another entrepreneur seemingly crushing it with a sold-out product launch, a dreamy vacation, or effortlessly balancing work and life. It’s natural to feel a pang of self-doubt or envy in these moments. But letting that feeling take over can make us lose focus on our own path and progress.

The Two Voices Inside Us
You’ve likely heard the story of the two wolves—one representing harmony, kindness, and contentment, and the other symbolizing anger, envy, and self-doubt. In our entrepreneurial lives, we’re constantly feeding one voice or the other. When we get caught up in social media comparisons, it’s easy to fuel the voice that makes us feel less-than, questioning our abilities and progress.
Social media, after all, is a highlight reel. It’s easy to compare our behind-the-scenes struggles with someone else’s polished moments. Research shows that constantly comparing ourselves to others online can lead to feelings of envy, anxiety, and even depression. A Reality Inventory to Refocus Your Mind and Count Your Emotions

1. Pause & Reflect
When you notice feelings of envy or self-doubt creeping in, pause for a moment. Ask yourself, “What am I truly feeling right now? Is it frustration, insecurity, or anxiety?”
2. Question the Inner Critic
Reflect on whether those thoughts are grounded in reality. Is your inner critic being truthful, or is it distorting the situation? Often, these negative thoughts are just stories we tell ourselves.
3. Refocus on Your Truth
Shift your attention back to what is true for you. What have you accomplished in your journey? What are you proud of? Gratitude for your own path can help you move out of the comparison trap and feel more grounded in your progress.
